In the Bible, there are multiple places where it speaks of beginnings. Verse 1 of Genesis reads, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” In the New Testament, the Gospel of John starts with a similar phrase. It reads, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
In Genesis, God is immediately mentioned. In John, the author immediately speaks of the Word. He goes on to explain that this Word was made flesh in the person of Jesus Christ.
These are two primary things that I want this blog to be about. God, and His Son, Jesus Christ.
I believe that we can learn more about both through the Bible, which I consider to be the Word of God. This will be our primary source of truth as we study the words contained within its pages. I recognize them as authoritative and inspired of the Holy Spirit.
In addition to the Holy Scriptures, there are other books that may help us understand it better, or at least give us a different perspective. As I read such works, I will share my thoughts on them from time to time. This may take the form of book reviews on Goodreads, or posts here.
Of course, I also plan on providing updates on my own writing and other things that may be worth bringing up. I hope they will be valuable to you. I look forward to reading your comments, getting to know each other, and learning together.
Thank you,
James Hutton
